The business community of Sialkot has vowed to use all resources to discharge its social responsibility towards the rehabilitation of quake victims of the country.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Relief Co-ordinator of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Qaiser Iqbal Baryar disclosed that houses would be constructed in and close to Muzaffarabad and each house would cost Rs 22,000. In addition school and mosques would also be constructed in quake-affected areas.

He revealed that ration was being provided to 5000 families in affected areas and this facility would be provided for six months. As many as 1000 tool kits had been provided while 18000 sheets were being distributed among the earthquake victims, he revealed.

Baryar said that so far SCCI had dispatched 105 track loaded with essential articles amounting to Rs 60 million. He further disclosed that 2000 tents, 1500 leather jackets and surgical instruments had also been provided in the affected areas for providing shelter to the victims.

The business community of this export-oriented city has also planned to establish a 200-bed hospital having the facility of Operation Theatre in Balakot.
